About usBerkshire Scout Enterprises Ltd. (BSEL) was formed in 1985 by Scout Leaders to answer rising unemployment in Berkshire. It was created with 2 key goals in mind: reducing unemployment and promoting scouting in Berkshire. The not for profit company has been working hard to achieve these for over 3 decades.
– Alan K. B. Bevis OBE, Chairman of BSEL.
We currently serve the community by providing training for apprenticeships through a contract with Buckinghamshire County Council as well as assisting those with disabilities through Support Worker Ltd. We help the Berkshire Scouts by acting as an employment agency for their LDO’s who spread scouting throughout the county and train dozens of their volunteers to use minibuses with MiDAS alongside volunteers from other charities.
We don’t just operate locally. As well as supporting Scouting’s efforts nationally we performed a key role in the International Scout and Guide Fellowship’s “Toys for Smiles” program that resulted in over 17,000 toys being sent to children in the Za’atari and Azraq camps in Jordan as of Dec 2014. We also promote other charities which uphold ideals we agree with. We produce a newsletter for Bambang Sunshine Project, an independent charity that supports disabled children in the Philippines to help raise awareness for their cause for example.
