This course is focused at Section Leaders on how to share some really useful outdoor practical skills with their young people.

This is a great opportunity to learn how to:

Learn how to build simple man made shelters,

Lean how to process firewood for keeping warm or cooking over.

Learn how to light a fire using primitive as well as modern methods including some simple fun items to cook over your fire.

Learn how to use a fixed bladed knife safely by constructing some useful items that you will be allowed to take home with you.

Finally learn some really useful knots to help you run a fun section activity

We will provide a Vegetarian Buffet Lunch with an option of hot /cold snacks depending on the season, Tea, Coffee and Squash will be available at set times during the day to keep you hydrated, the site has flushing toilets and hot running water too.

The afternoon session will comprise of: various man made shelter set ups; using some of the items you made in the morning, useful knots and easy ways to remember them, Tool maintenance / sharpening skills.

The afternoon will also consist of camp hygiene and some basic open fire cooking skills.

The day will close with your very own certificate of attendance and hopefully make new friends with the other members.

The cost is subsidised.

Please bring with you a mug and a drinks bottle (not glass).

Please dress appropriately for the weather and wear suitable foot wear for outdoors.
